Subject: (urth) Dog-headed ape
From: "Sikozu Sta.-Ana"

"Dog-headed ape" (CYNOCEPHALUS) is the baboon, known in the ancient world as
a symbol of the barbarian hordes and the wild lands. St. Christopher,
defender of the Faith, was a baboon who was converted to Christianity.

No, I'm not making this up. Look it up yourself if you doubt it.

Anyway, there's a whole book on the motif of the dog in Eurasian myth, from
Asia to India to Europe, called MYTHS OF THE DOG-MEN. Anyone wants the cite
I can pass it on (right now in the wrong place to do so).
